In this project I experimented more with using lighting techniques like gobos and volumetrics to create a more photorealistic scene.

Models
In the shot I used a model from Mecabricks as well as a plant from Sketchfab. There were also several materials used from Polyhaven. I chose to use a Lego model in the scene because of the model’s shape and complexity. This made it perfect for the main subject of the image as it was eye catching and interesting to look at. The colour also contributed by creating more contrast thus making the car pop more.

Compositing
This was also an exercise in compositing. I used a blur node in conjunction with fog glow to lower the overall sharpness of the scene. I also used a lens distortion node. The node had some dispersion and distortion to give the scene a more authentic and more imperfect look and feel. For the film grain I used a texture from a pack I found online from Adi Ulitski (this pack features quite a lot in my work). There was also a bloom node added to add to the film look. And finally I added a contrast node to make the scene look more punchy.

Gobos
I used a gobo from iMesh to give more natural shadows, as if there were a real tree line. To create a more realistic atmosphere in the shot, I used a gobo (an image that creates a shadow based off of some other shape. E.g. a tree line, or water ripples) to produce shadows and god rays in the main shot.
